On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, Kenneth “Skip” Rinehart, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, passed away at home at the age of 72. He battled cancer for eight years, charming nurses, doctors and medical staff, and keeping a positive attitude, a full grateful heart, and a sense of humor every step of the way.

Skip was born on July 14, 1947 in Bakersfield, California to Kenneth and Gertrude “Trudy” (Haveman) Rinehart. He grew up and lived life to the fullest in Lynden, Washington. He was known for keeping his truck(s) in immaculate condition.

Skip married Rachel (Morgan) Rinehart on December 30, 1995. He was a devoted and deeply loving husband to Rachel. Together they created a home full of love, gratitude and laughter for themselves, their melded family and dear friends.

Skip found great joy and pride in his family. He was passionate about his friends and his cars. He enjoyed building models and creating detailed dioramas for them, as well as taking care of his yard and the wildlife that he coaxed there.

A celebration of life is planned for summer, his favorite season. His family wishes to thank all of their friends and extended family for the love and support, and the medical staff at Peace Health Cancer Center and Whatcom Hospice Foundation for excellent care and kindness.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
