Obituary for Harold L Bolt

Harold Leonard Bolt passed away, October 24, 2019, from complications of a stroke he suffered while traveling in Georgia.

Born in Neodesha, Kansas, December 13, 1932, to Chester Newt Bolt and Ella Mae Bolt. His parents set forth and moved to Missouri in 1943 to work on a farm and after a year there, moved to work on a ranch owned by the same family in Wyoming. In 1946 they moved to Eden, Utah, where of the 8 kids in the school there, Harold and his brother were 5 of them. In 1947, they set out for Yakima having heard a family there could make good money picking cherries. On their way to Yakima, they ran out of gas in Grandview, WA, and they found work that day and the family settled there. After high school Harold worked for a year and saved money to attend college at Washington State University, graduating in 1955, with a degree in Agriculture. After serving in the army from 1955 to 1957, he found a job with Farmers Home Administration and moved to Lynden, Washington.

He married Barbara K Bolt in 1963, and they had 39 Years together ending with Barbara’s passing in 2002. Harold enjoyed raising replacement heifers and growing raspberries. After retiring from the Farmers Home Administration in 1987, he continued farming Raspberries until 2001. Dad was active in many service organizations, the Jaycee’s for one. He was one of the original organizers of what is now the Farmers Day parade. He loved working with the Lynden Senior Center, serving in many capacities including delivering meals on wheels up until his death.
