Obituary for Everett Tyler

Everett Charles Tyler, 94, was born in Fulton, Kansas to Charles and Grace (Carpenter) Tyler, on August 26, 1925.

He moved to Yakima, WA with his parents, his younger brother Gene, and baby sister Martha in November of 1934. There he attended Wide Hollow School. Everett joined the U.S. Navy on his 18th birthday, serving in WWII until 1946.

Everett married his sweetheart Marjorie Snider in 1945, and they enjoyed nearly 75 years of marriage. In 1946, after returning home from service in the Navy, he and Marjorie began their lives together, building their first home in Yakima. He attended Perry Trade School, working in auto body work until retirement.

In 1957, Everett and Marjorie moved to Seattle. Everett worked hard so that he could play hard, and enjoyed anything he and Marjorie could do to spend time outdoors, including camping, boating, skiing and hiking. They enjoyed their happiest times boating and exploring the waters of the San Juan Islands.

After retirement, Everett and Marjorie spent their next 27 years boating and traveling through all 50 U.S. states and Mexico, making many good friends along the way.

In 2012 Everett and Marjorie settled near family in Lynden. Everett was a cheerful, kind and loving man, devoted to his wife and family. He was admired and dearly loved by his family, and will be greatly missed. He is now full of joy in the presence of Jesus.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie Tyler, sisters-in-law Helen Tyler and Shirley Bouma, nieces Jane Tyler-Watson (Brent), Dorothy Tyler, Nancy Marvin, Colleen Birkey (Dan), Claudia VanderHoek (Dave), nephews Chris Brooker, Jim Buizer (Dee) and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Grace Tyler, brother Gene Tyler, sister Martha Brooker, brothers-in-law Dick Brooker, Jerry Buizer and Ed Bouma, nephews Mike Marvin and Dan Buizer.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
